Our Team

Broad Sound Partners was created by Victor Otley and Daniel Piltch in 2019. The combination of our experience in the private equity, technology management and business operations fields offers a unique advantage for our portfolio companies. Having built, managed and sold several business of our own we have a useful outlook on how to establish success criteria for company growth.

Otley

Victor C. Otley, III

Victor is a founding partner at Broad Sound Partners (BSP) and is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s investment and operating oversight.

Prior to founding BSP, Victor was a Managing Director and founding partner of Gores Small Capitalization Partners (a $400m buyout fund) and a member of the Gores Small Capitalization Partners Investment Committee.

Prior to Gores, Victor was a senior executive at multiple technology-oriented companies including Intellicare (Founder and CEO), Diagnostic Health Corporation (CEO), Medaphis / Per-se (SVP) and Medical Management of New England (Partner and SVP). Victor has been involved with over a dozen early stage startups as both an investor and manager and completed over 50 business financings and transactions in North America and Europe.

Victor has served on numerous Boards of Directors including IntelliCare, Fotona, D.O., Certify, Etrali Trading Solutions, Vitac, Zmags, Millennium 1 Solutions, Meridian Medical Management, Clark Logistics, Scoville, Peoplenet, Diagnostic Health Corporation and Aiko Biotechnology.

Victor began his career focused on healthcare IT at Northern Data Systems / Versyss. Victor received a BA in Economics from Bates College.

Daniel Piltch

Daniel Piltch

Dan is a founding partner at Broad Sound Partners (BSP) and is responsible for evaluating potential investments, leading our technology research activities, and managing the firm’s day-to-day operations.  

Dan has over 25 years of experience in technology and management consulting in large and small companies across many industries. Most recently, he was co-founder and CEO of Freeport Metrics, an international software design and development firm focused on healthcare IT, financial services and early stage startups. Dan was directly involved with advising, managing and building technology for over seventy two startups. He believes that we should demand results from the software in which we invest, and that proper management of technology and process is critical to success.

Through Freeport Metrics, Dan led investments in several technology based startups including Forager and Rock Step Solutions, where he is an active member on the Board of Advisors.

Since scaling and selling Freeport Metrics, Dan has acted as interim CTO and COO for a number of companies, helping them to create and manage processes to help grow their business.

Dan spent the early part of his career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he worked with clients such as AT&T, Verizon, and Citibank. Dan had various roles — beginning as a developer, and ultimately running the emerging technology sector at an internal think tank for the financial services industry.

Dan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science and Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering.

Board of Advisors

Dave Anderson, PhD.

Dr. Anderson is Managing General Partner of Supply Chain Ventures, LLC, a venture capital company specializing in marketing, sales and supply chain software investing. He is a retired managing partner of supply chain consulting at Accenture, a $40 billion global technology consulting company.

He serves on the Board of Directors of Placester, of Boston, Massachusetts, NextShift Robotics of Lowell, Massachusetts and  NBD Nanotechnology, of Boston, Massachusetts. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of New England and a member of the Boston College Technology Council.

Dr. Anderson is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the United Kingdom and a Member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in the United States. He is a frequent public speaker and has published numerous articles on supply chain strategy and business management in leading journals.

His past associations include the Board of Directors of Descartes Systems Group, of Waterloo, Ontario, Steelwedge Software , of Pleasanton, California,  Board of Directors and Interim CEO of Optiant (acquired by Logility), the Board of Directors of Industri-Matematik-International (acquired by Symphony Technology, then China dotcom), the Board of Directors of Vtrenz (acquired by SilverPop), the Board of Directors of LeanLogistics of Holland, Michigan (acquired by Brambles USA), Avenue Right, of Fargo, North Dakota, Waer Systems, of Brighton, UK, the Board of Directors of New Vine Logistics (acquired by IBG Fulfillment Services) in Napa, California, ActualMeds, of Hartford, Connecticut, Aiko Biotechnology of Portland, Maine and Board Chairman of Control Group, a New York City-based digital media technology consulting and outsourcing company (acquired by Intersection/Google).

Dr. Anderson has a BA, Economics from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut and a PhD. In Econometrics and Finance from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Don Moffatt

Don’s executive leadership has spanned the Telecom and Financial Services sectors in Canada, the US and international markets. He has a proven track record for building and optimizing Direct Channel capabilities and establishing Customer Service and Direct Sales as market differentiators at industry-leading brands, including Bell Canada, Citi Financial, Rogers Communications and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Considered an industry pioneer, Don has received numerous awards for his contributions to the Contact Center Industry. 

Most recently Don was CEO and subsequently, Chairman of Millennium1 Solutions, a highly successful BPO turn-around for a Private Equity group. Prior to M1S, as Chief Procurement Officer at Rogers Communications, Don led an enterprise transformation effort that resulted in annual saving of $500M through the deployment of sourcing best practices. Don also worked as an advisor to the Gores  Group, where he supported members of the M&A Team evaluating key investment opportunities. Don sits on the Advisory Board of Merchants, a Dimension Data Company, and is Chairman of the Board of InTheChat, a digital customer engagement platform provider.

Don’s successes have been built on the principles of involving team members in the development of plans that leverage best practices, focusing on the discipline to execute those plans, and pledging “commitment to commitments” on a daily basis. This hands-on approach to leadership and mentorship has earned Don awards as a Top Executive Leader of People.
